Sunday 27 April 2008 - a play day

Rufus and Mac both got an egg for breakfast and Rufus was separated while I was preparing my breakfast. Afterward we went for a walk, and I tried walking both dogs together, on a splitter. This worked rather well, the were behaving and alternating leading or sniffing. I scanned in his records so I could make copies for the Vet, behaviourist and anyone else we might visit.

Rufus will retrieve and deliver tennis balls nearly 7x24, however he hasn't generalized the concept much further than balls. He did bring back the air-kong dummy and the jack, both of which have tennis ball construction, but was very tentative. He doesn't seem interested in stuffies at all, even the quacking duck or the cloth covered tennis ball with a tail.

Monday 28 April 2008 - the boys are getting along well

I contact the behaviourist office which previously consulted on him and asked for a copy of his records, as the copy passed on to me was difficult to read and too faint to reproduce. Rufus was very excited to have me home and after greeting was over immediately went into 'I want to play fetch. I want to play fetch NOW! You, human, your role in life is to throw the ball for me!' mode, as is pretty common with tollers.

I tried not penning Rufus in the back hall overnight and he and Mac got along fine. Rufus kept on one side of me - and had to be in contact with me, while Mac was on the other.
